On Saturday, April 14, an unusually warm and sunny day 18 AMOC members, in 12 cars met at Exoticars USA, in Milford, NJ for our first PA/NJ area event of the 2018 driving season. Hosted by Wil and Sandy de Groot of Exoticars, we were treated to morning food treats and a tour of their facility, dedicated to the servicing, repair and restoration of rare and exotic high performance automobiles. After some tire kicking and the tour, we departed for a drive, mostly through upper Bucks County, PA, to ultimately take us to the Ivyland, PA facilities of Steel Wings, known to many of us as dedicated to the nurturing of Aston Martins.
Our drive encompassed 44 miles and 90 minutes of driving through scenic rural roads and small towns that are typical of this area, northeast of Philadelphia. Signs of spring, about to blossom were numerous, as fields were greening and the earlier blossoming trees and shrubs were beginning to be in full color. We could not have asked for better day for such an event.
As guests of Jon Clerk and Lance Evans at Steel Wings, we were treated to a tour of their shops, as well as a delicious buffet lunch. A recent expansion in to the remaining section of their building now provides for a comprehensive parts department in addition to the former service, repair and restoration areas, now all under one roof. This newly acquired area also served very well as our luncheon area. It allows events to be independent of the weather for such things.
The comments and enthusiasm that was expressed was a credit to the planning by Wil Wong, our NJ area Representative, who put this day together. This enthusiasm extended to the taking of many photos, some which have been forwarded to me, which I am pleased to share with our PA/NJ/NY area members.
We are indebted to Jon, Lance and the de Groots for their hospitality and the enhancing of our event.
