The next installment of the AMOC Dinner Night Series will be at Michelin starred Mixtli in San Antonio, Saturday February 28th, 2026, at 6:00pm, with reception starting at 5:00pm. This will be another extraordinary event that carries forward our tradition of fun and informal affairs at top ranked restaurants that offer creative and innovative menus, that provide an eclectic experience combining sight, sound, touch, aromas, and taste, and that strive for perfection in the patron experience.
Mixtli will be our first AMOC Dinner Night at a Michelin starred restaurant. Debbie and I selflessly did a scouting run a few months ago and it was fantastic! Michelin says it best:
"This trailblazing restaurant is from the visionary minds of Chefs Diego Galicia and Rico Torres. The acclaimed duo has fine dining chops but it's a shared reverence for Mexican cuisine that is the real driving force behind this endeavor. Tasting menus shift often, focusing on a different part of Mexico and may offer up cutting-edge interpretations of Oaxacan specialties or a meal focused on the cuisine of "Tierra Caliente." Not content to restrain their explorations to the regional diversity of Mexican cuisine, the menus also draw from the culinary past or even pre-Columbian times. Expect cooking that is both cerebral and delicious, with meticulously prepared, artfully plated dishes that tell a story while thrilling your palate."
You can check out their current menu at
https://restaurantmixtli.com/menu. They can do vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten free, lacto-ovo vegetarian diets. I will send an e-mail to registrants several weeks before about food allergies, aversions, and dietary restrictions. Recommendation is to be adventurous and go with the standard menu except for allergies.
The cost for Mixtli, including tax, service charge, gratuity, and credit card fee is $250 per person, which needs to be pre-paid with your registration. Wine parings and other beverages can be ordered and billed separately during the dinner. If you need to cancel, we'll try to get someone to take your place from the waiting list and provide a refund of $242 (cost minus credit card fee).
Shavano Garage Condos of San Antonio is sponsoring our reception from 5:00pm to 6:00pm and will cover the first round of drinks for everyone.
There is a small public parking lot next to the restaurant for $25, plus street parking. Depending on other events in the area that evening, parking may be a challenge, so Uber or other ride sharing may be a good option.
Everyone is on your own for making your hotel accommodations if you are staying in San Antonio. In keeping with the AMOC Dinner Night gestalt, I highly recommend the Hotel Emma at Pearl, reputed to be the best hotel in the US — I have no evidence to the contrary. They converted the old Pearl brewery into an absolutely unique and remarkable high-end hotel experience. Book soon since they fill up well in advance.

Hotel Emma offers a breakfast add-on option with your room reservation, but skip that since their restaurant, called Supper, has a wonderful breakfast. The restaurant is typically very busy in the morning, so use their online reservation link as soon as you book your room.
